Missouri Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train & Flower Show

IMG_3344IMG_3342IMG_3346IMG_3350IMG_3347IMG_3352IMG_3357

If you have not made it to the Annual Flower and Train Show and the MO Botanical Gardens, you need to go!  It is bright and beautiful.  There didn’t seem to be as many trains, but it could be that I was too focused on the flowers.   There seemed to be more room and the flowers were better than any year in the past, since I’ve been going.  The boys seemed to enjoy it, so I guess the trains were good too!  They give the kids a seek and find before you go in.  Noah loves doing those and he even found all the items on the list.  I think they run this show through the first week of 2010, so go if you can.

Eagles and other cool birds in Alton!

IMG_3531IMG_3604

See the fish this one was going for?  It was a feeding frenzy!

They went talons to talons over the fish.  I had never seen this before today (in real life).  What a great day in Alton.

The swans have come to Alton!  Very cool!

IMG_3666The bottom one caught a fish and the top guy is trying to profit from it.  Don’t worry the one that caught it did eat it :)

Heron’s flew in to eat.  At one point there were four of them.  I loved watching them.  We could not get out of the car this whole time, because as you know…..it was WAY TOO COLD!

Not sure what this cute duck is, but I thought it was neat looking.  I’ll have to check with my aunt.

One last eagle for you!

Hope you all had a great Christmas!  One funny moment was Christmas Eve we let the boys open one present (while at a nice dinner with good friends, thanks Liz!).  E opened a puzzle we gave him and handed it to me and said, “I don’t want it.”  Good thing I am the one that brought it, so no feelings were hurt, we just laughed.  On Christmas day his favorite thing to play with for a while was an old guitar we got after Noah was born as a hand me down.  I’m thinking next year we raid the play room and wrap something up from there.  No money spent, no more junk to add to my house and still LOTS of Christmas fun :)

God bless!

For the birds!

For a little bit there I thought I was going to do a shoot for National Geographic!  The bird was spared!

Pretty cool how this bird caught the fish.

I think this is my FAVORITE bird picture to date!

Loved how this guy moved his head to the side to look at me and Noah.

What’s up with this duck?  Nice wig!

OK so these are some of the bird pictures I’ll offer the calendar.  Next year if I get to do it I’m going to start in January and do pictures every month so I have lots of seasons!  What a fun project it would be though.
